You reinact movies in miniature? Today's movie is The Sound Of Music 2: The Von Trapps on Tour in West Virginia?

No that is the sequel to The Dukes of Hazzard....the one where the Duke's have to make a new moon shining still in the middle of the woods...

In all seriousness, is it making miniatures of a small town or something for a train set?

In all seriousness, is it making miniatures of a small town or something for a train set?

Correct! The "something related to a train set" that is, not the Dukes of Hazzard.

This photo gives a reference for the size of these N scale models:

The other hobbies I referred to are model railroading and photography. The tie in to woodworking is this: Pensacola Model Railroad Club has put together a display for the Alger Sullivan Historical Society in Century, FL, depicting typical logging scenes from the late 1800's to early 1900's. Due to its scale, our 4' X 12' N scale layout is able to incorporate all elements of logging operations from timber cutting, hauling, and transportation to sawmill operations.

This is an overhead photo with the roof removed of the sawmill operation on the layout:

This link is for an enlarged photo with labels for the sawmill:

                http://members.cox.net/jlcc/PMRC/Log...h%20labels.jpg

This photo should display in approximately actual size.

The sawmill was constructed from scratch (each board cut and placed by hand, etc) by our club's resident master modeller, Glen Hall. Bear in mind the coin in the first photo to get an idea of the scale he built this in.

Alger Sullivan was a logging company that operated in the northern part of our county until the latter 1900's. The museum has acquired one of their original steam locomotives and will be restoring it to operating condition this year. Aside from the miniature display, some of our club members will be contributing our time, tools and talent to helping the restoration effort.

I hope some of you enjoy seeing this type of stuff. If anyone would like I'll post links to other photos and such.

Thanks John for the photo and the ability to see woodworking on this scale. I started model railroading and had to give it up many years ago. I am glad You continued on, I for one would like to see the links. Bill

That is cool! Scale models, no matter what the subject, take a special skill set to make.
