photo's - one more time

i've done a search to find a way to post photos on this site from photobucket - unsuccessfully. i know i'm the only one that has trouble with this. directions, please.

(why not have a section on BTcentral with a direct thread to this issue?)

I'm not quite clear on your objective.

Do you want to make it so that a picutre which resides on photobucket will appear within your post on this site?

for quite some time this site has allowed direct posting of photos to your article.
click the Go Advanced button and then below the posting area find a section called "Manage attachments". That will bring up a popup allowing you to browse and copy photos on your computer to BT3central to be attached to the post.

If you don't want to use the method Loring explains, do this:

Log onto Photobucket.

Navigate to the sub-album containing the image(s) you want to include in your post.

Below each image are several lines of text. The bottom one says "IMG Code." Click on these words (at the left; it's a clickable link) and you should briefly see a yellow flyout that says "Copied."

Come back here, RIGHT-click at the point in your message where you want the image to appear, and select Paste. The link to your image on Photobucket will be inserted into your message.

Repeat as necessary for additional images.

I'm a Photobucket user, and this is exactly how I post my pics. I use Firefox with two tabs open; one for the message I'm composing, the other for Photobucket.




For formatting purposes, I've found that two or three carriage returns BEFORE the image, and at least one afterwards, gives the best appearance. That's how the example above was done. I use a maximum image size of 640x480.

Thanks for the help. It has been a long time since I've tried to post a picture and each site seems to do something a little different. Larry's method of using photobucket works very well.

Omar, you don't need a photobucket account. When you type your post, before you submit it, scroll down. You will see "manage attachments". Click on that, then follow the directions. You only need the image on your computer. You are limited to 95K (I think) in size.
Edit: I just made a new thread on posting pics.

Omar, the method described by Ed and Loring works just fine. If you want to make the same pictures available to people beyond BT3Central (other forums, email, etc), set up a Photobucket (or similar hosting service) account and use the method I described. That's the main difference between the two methods.

I also use Photobucket. If you have your own pictures already in your computer, like in "Documents", or "Pictures" etc., once you have set up your account at Photobucket and uploaded the picture, copying the "IMG" may not set off the yellow flyout that says "copied", when clicking on the "IMG" code. If you set the cursor (I) to the left of the image code and left click and hold down and drag to the right slowly, it will copy the code, then right click and the pull down will give you a choice to "copy". Left click on that. Then, paste into the post.

Sigh. This little pissing match that "cabinetman" started several months ago is getting sooooo friggin' tiresome ...

Omar, as I said in my previous post: click on the actual words "IMG Code" to the LEFT of the code string box:

It's not necessary to manually copy the code string in the box at right. Just click on the words at left. It's that simple. Really. I have never had the yellow flyout fail to appear; but even if it doesn't, the code will still be copied. Except, of course, in the instance of operator error.

Most of us here will not find it tiresome to help you to make sure you have as much info you need to figure out how to do photos. I won't repeat my previous post as you could just go back and read it if you need to.
