    i realize this may be the case but many drugs say they have a side effect of drowziness(some say daytime drowziness others do not) and machinery should not be operated. These are sleeping pills after all

    i think the real problem with this is when people try to use pills as a fix all for bad practices. Like the bottle says only take it if you have enough time to devote to sleeping. I think this is where people get into trouble like you said

      The only thing I can observe about a drug that makes you want to sleep, gamble, and have sex is that I hope it's not all at the same time...

      That would be very confusing...

        The side effect is basically compulsive behavior. Wife went crazy shopping (on line and TV) when they first put her on them.

          Does the compulsive behavior become more controllable over time?

          Did you at least make sure that there were only tool catalogs at her disposal?

              No, but it can be quite variable. Or it may be continuous. Not permanent - stop the dug and the compulsions are gone.
