I upon returning home from the ER posted this topic. The next day I posted a follow up topic with pictures and an explanation on why it happened. A couple of weeks later I posted a topic about the jig I designed that could have prevented my injury.

The purpose of today's topic is to give just one more reminder how dangerous our hobby can be with just a moments lapse in judgement or inattention. Not a single day goes by that I do not remember my injury. The tip of my finger is likely forever numb. Even though I do not need to I find that I sometimes avoid using that finger. Although it might take some thought and additional effort I believe that most risk can be mitigated by set-up or construction of a jig.

    Let's be safe out there!

Thanks Mark, I was in the ER of the VA yesterday, and a Gentleman came in with a plastic bag on His right hand. He told them kickback on His 10" tablesaw, He lost His index finger. Bill

It's hard to believe it's been a year already. Man, we're all getting closer to heaven (?).

I want to thank you for making that post. It does not seem like a year. Every time I use my router I think of you and then of what I'm about to do. Many times I have changed my method to better protect my fingers.

I think about Mark hurting his finger everytime he goes out to the shop.

Hey Mark, you'd better watch her. That's a smiley at the end of her post, not a frown.
