    HD TV model numbers?

I've been looking at the Sony KDL-46VL130 TV from Costco, but there isn't a lot of information on it. It doesn't show up on the Sony site, but I was reading that Sony makes that model strictly for Costco, and it's the same as the KDL-46W3000. Does anyone know how to verify this information? Even better, does anyone have the KDL-46VL130 from Costco? If so, I'd be interested in pros/cons.

Ed, I looked at a Sony 52" LCD at Sam's club over the holidays. Great deal, 12 month same as cash but the problem was that their part # did not show up on the Sony site. There was a Sony rep there and she attempted to answer my questions but quite frankly, I believe I had more knowledge than she did being that I've done my homework on these. Something was just not right about it.

    I passed on "the deal."

I'll stick with my Toshiba 42" Plasma.

its common for manufacturers to make unique models with slightly varying features and cosmetic trim for individual retailers. The model numbers may differ by one or two digits, but they are unique. It discourages comparison shopping and makes possible those price guarantees, you know, find the exact same model for sale elsewhere and we'll match the price and give you 10% to boot. They never have to match them.

He's right about the numbers. In the past I had to call tech support about a product (not a tv) and told them I couldn't find the item on their website. After telling them the model number, the tech told me no problem sir, you bought this at Sam's Club.

I have seen the price match go both ways. Some honor it as long as it has the same features & the model numbers are close enough to tell it's actually the same model, some won't

Thanks for the replies. We just pulled the trigger. I'm pretty certain we'll be happy with the purchase.
