    I had a woodworking nightmare

It's said that our dreams help us resolve real world problems.

I'm working on an office desk for my wife. Last night I sprayed lacquer on
the cabinets, drawers, and drawer bottoms.

One of my dreams last night was that I walked into the shop this morning to
find the lacquer oozing everywhere and dripping all over the expensive drawer
slides I bought. I also dreamt that I had installed the bottoms but only
sprayed one side causing all the drawers to warped and twist. They were now unfixable because they were glued in the groove. I'd have to remake all
    9 drawers again!

I guess I've had worse nightmares but this was a doozy for me.

I have had very similar nightmares, except I don't get to wake up from mine .

Geez, sounds like you forgot something that your mind really wanted you to remember while you were building the desk! Good luck

ummm.. I suggest using more ventilation when spraying laquer........ think you fogged your brain pretty good from the fumes..

I've had dreams where I solved an actual problem at work more than once. You know you've been working too hard when you dream about a fibre channel trace.

In my old job last summer I was stuck on getting one piece of hardware to talk to another. While I was on vacation shortly before I started my current one I had a dream and the next day sent an email to my backup and told him to check a pinout on a schematic against the hardware. He sent a note back that he already had and that they thought it was the problem.

My nightmares usually have me in front of a large audience, dressed in only a fez and size 72 briefs. At the last minute, the topic of my speech is changed from the Byzantine Empire to advanced calculus.

my recurring nightmare in college was to find out about mid-semester that I was signed up for a course which I had not gone to all semester long.

Fifteen years after ceasing work on bibliographic search engines (think Dialog), I would still wake in the morning and immediately start thinking about short circuits (a way to bail on or suspend a particular search when it is going nowhere or when you have enough results to satisfy the user for a while) and other optimizations.

Every once in a while an old client will call with questions and the routine starts again for up to several weeks.
