Hi Def Camcorder with Hard Drive, etc. Help Spend My Money

I realized today that I am missing too much family moments on film because I hate dealing with transfer from DV tape. I also realized that my prior DVD authoring efforts weren't that great as I watched some home videos today on my large screen HD TV.

So I'm looking at new cameras and amd going to do it right.

    I like this one . . .
    http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/JVC-E...oductDetail.do

Found a few sites selling this thing for less than $500! Assuming they can deliver for that, this seems like an excellent deal.

Will probably need to address HD burner for computer at a later date.

    Add this to the list . . . widescreen same camera . . ..

Ended up with Canon HV20 HD Camcorder. I really didn't want to go MiniDV storage route, but I found that very few HD camcorders are HDV functioning which is much more easily edited by current HD video editing software.

Holy smokes . . . just realized the 3 digital cameras that I bought were from bestpricecameras.com. I ordered on Wendsday night 12/05/07 and received them Friday AM 12/07/2007. Never a phone call, bait and switch, out of stock, or anything . . . . I guess sometimes they do what they are supposed to do. They even included the free 1gb memory card and free carrying case for all 3 cameras. Yesterday when they came my wife and I were talking about how awesome they are! Wierd huh?

Just make sure they are actually JVC cameras and not some grey market cameras...

Oh, I didn't buy the JVC camcorder linked above from them. I actually bought 3 entry level digital cameras. I opened one of the boxes, took a few pictures, etc and everything worked great.

Beware of photoshops with Brooklyn addresses offering prices that are too good to be true.

I bought (3) Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX3's for my new employees this year. All my other guys have Panasonic DMC-LZ7. I really like these Panasonic cameras . . . a great combination of quality and technology.

As far as camcorder, I ended up with Canon HV20. While I did not want to go with miniDV it seems that the best quality video and easiest editing data only came with miniDV cameras. Took a little video today. As long as their was good light the video was stunning when played back on my HD TV. Lower light resulted in grainy production. While this occurs on most camcorders, it is a trademark of the Canon brand.
