Laugh for the day, Wierd quirks anyone?

I am sure we all have our weird quirks.
I have one that this time of year comes up. I received both my real and personal property tax bills, which I will either pay by mail/electronically in the next couple of days, or go pay them in person normally on the 23rd or 24th, when everyone else is doing last minute Christmas shopping. No big deal,
    Here is the quirk
I just downloaded and printed off my 2007 tax return (never count it finished until January 1, when I check the form for differences), so now I am getting ready to estimate, my woodworking show fun money (early Febuary this year).

all right, anyone else post a quirk for others to laugh at?

Edit. I should really check my typing since goofing up my finger. Thought I caught everything when typing...

Why do you pay your property tax bill yourself? Isn't that what escrow is for?

naw, escrow is really just a way for you to get screwed by:

the local gov for hiding the cost of local government from you the same way the feds and state hide the real cost of governemt from you by having pay witholding ( yes you can tally it up, but it doesn't hurt as much when you pay incrementally)

and by the mortgage company when they don't compute your escrow correctly and have you over-pay for a few years, or even better, underpay for a year and get stuck with a bill that you weren't expecting

reason 2 is why I don't do escrow...

You pay it yourself for one of a few reasons.
        You can
No Mortgage (this is where people get shocked by what it is)
or in my case, my mortgage holder is my mom. I inherited half the house (been working on it since I was 14) and had to buy her half out. 5 more years to go.

Because of the way I ended up with it, I still qualify for some of the first time buyers loans, if I ever decide to move (some are bank mortgage connected).

I have the no mortgage, so I have to pay the tax bills by October 31st and Our property insurance is due on December 15th. LOML makes a payroll deduction every 2 weeks into a special savings account to take care of these. Bill

Very true, and it hurts every time that they recalculate escrow. But, on the other hand, most banks charge extra to not escrow the taxes, so escrow works a bit better. I just hate it when their calculations give them a huge extra amount one time in the year so they have an only slightly high margin on it another time... It really hurt when my mortgage got sold to a different bank that calculated differently...

Of course, in my town, taxes are quarterly, so you don't get hit by it all at once even if you pay yourself.
