    Here's Your Sign!

So I had to send some defective parts back today. I took the box down to the loading dock and there was a sign on the UPS drop box that said "All packages to be shipped must have an address label". What was somebody expecting - they'd drop a box off and UPS would magically know where it was supposed to go?

When I went down to the UPS drop off / pick up location to receive my new PC router the sign read: "All persons must show ID". There was no mention of what form of ID was acceptable. I wondered if my library card would work but decided to flash the DL instead because I didn't want to waste an hour arguing a mute point about their lame signage.

I had an employee go to his bank to cash his payroll check. He presented his driver's license with his picture on it. The teller looked at it and said "I can't use this because it's expired". He said something like "Well here is my picture on it and I haven't expired".

If you leave the country and then your passport expires, they won't let you back in the USA. Honest!
In fact, many countries won't let you in if your passport expiration date is less than 3 or 6 months away. They don't want to get stuck with you.

I am STILL dealing with M&D mower over some Ryobi mounting brackets. They don't believe that the part that comes to them in a box of two (right and left) with one part number, is one item.

There was a sign on a door where I used to work that said, "This door must be kept closed when passing through it." Oooooooooo k.

I did try the old "Give me a mirror... yep that's me" trick once. The lady involved didn't think it was funny.

I use my concealed carry ID when it doesn't say which picture ID is required. You should see the looks people give you when they figure out what the card is.

Around here I have only had one person do that at the store I work. But I guess I don't make such a big deal about it.

Although about a month ago I had a young man come in and wanted to buy some cigarettes so I asked for his ID, and he pulled it out of his wallet and there behind it was his Reserve Deputy ID card. I didn't say anything about it but around here you have to be 21 to be a reserve police officer. And now we joke about it when he comes in to get his smokes.

I have college students who try and show me their school ID cards...around here that doesn't work.
