What did you get on Black Friday

There is basically nothing I really need. I got up at 8:50am and drove to Lowes, got two Maglite flash lights, a pack of two tape measures plus some small stuff, used a 10 of 25 coupon, and the flashlight ended at $6.50 each, not a bad deal. I then drove to Homedepot, got the Ryobi 6" grinder. Finally wet to Officemax, they still had the Mio $99.99 GPS, got one and the 2 year replacement plan, plus a 2G SD card. That's all I got for the Black Friday. How about you guys?

      Best-buy BUST!!!

I was in Dallas for Thanksgivinvg and saw the BB ad on Thursday for a $199 computer w/ monitor and printer. Thought this would be a great gift for my daughter at half the price. Hiowever they only had 15 per store and they opened at 5am, Ugh!! My mother in-law's house was only a couple of miles from the nearst store, so I thought what the heck, might as well give it a try. So I got up at 4:30am, threw on my clothes and out the door. When I got there the parking lot was full! There was already a line 4 to 5 deep at least a city block long. I'm guessing at least 750 to 1000 people, maybe more, not counting all the folks that had yet to leave their cars. I'm guessing those people were going straight to the door without regard to the group that was standing orderly in line. My thought, of those 1000 or so people, odds are that at least 15 of them were going for the computer!! Long story short I made a u-turn in the parking lot and got back on I-635. I was back in bed by 5:05am. Never again!! Reminded me of the time my first wife stood in line at a Toy's R Us twenty some years ago to get a Cabbage Patch Doll. People can't resist a frenzy! Not even me!!

          6 stitches and some Lortab.

Nearly cut off my right index finger...and it wasn't even a shop accident.

I got a 2X12 and 3 sawzall blades. I wasn't about to try to get a bargain early in the morning.

The morning paper had a picture of a guy who was first in line at Best Buy. The poor guy had been camping by the door since 11 A.M Wednesday.

Well I'm not crazy enough to wait up in line 11AM the day before but I was in line by 3:30 Friday (store opened at 5). But there was still about 150-200 people in line. I decided to give it a try anyways and wait in line. I walked out with almost everything I came in there for: 50" DLP tv, Laptop, ipod video, flash drive, and a few DVDs.

Funny thing happened while waiting in line. There was a group of people, around 20 or so, sitting in a grass area at the side of the store. I'm patiently waiting in line talking to some of the other insane people willing to wake up this early and all of sudden I hear "ahhhh". I look and the group of people are running out of the grass because the sprinklers turned on.

Oh, and there were some A-holes who weren't in line and tried to rush the door when they opened. Luckily, they had employees there to stop them.

Wife ended up getting a fake tree yesterday, but it was after black friday and just a regular "sale".

I went to Woodcraft since I needed to pick up a couple things. I don't think they were running any BF specials but they do have a few things on sale. Did pick up some rubber mats for the shop floor on sale for $13.

Online I took full advantage of Holbren 25% off for a bunch of Whiteside stuff including chamfer R&S bits I have been needing. Noted Brian has some Veritas stuff online. Noted that Brian needs to start carrying the Lee Valley Veritas planes and putting them 25% off.

Bought something on Amazon. Don't even remember what it was.

Edit: Oh ya, bought a few more years of FWW that I was missing. I am now complete through 2002, which is about 150 issues. Things are a great resource!

                        That SUCKS, Bruce!

Fortunately, things like this very often have a way of turning out as a blessing. I hope yours does, too. Someday the a-hole that fired you may have to come to you looking for a job...

sorry to hear that bruce! hopefully, other doors will open up and better opportunities awaiting you.

as for BF, i went to rockler (40 miles) and got a bunch of 36" columbian bar clamps (supposedly jet, that is what they said) for 4.99 each. also got those clamp-it-assembly for $20 with (8) 5" clamps for free. also picked up a clamping miter guage for $30 and that was it.

Had to work! My only driver on the road screwed up horribly! His FU will cost us a missed load plus a bunch of grief with a major customer.

Went home popped in a DVD and got ticked that the our remote for the DVD did not need new batteries, it was just non-functioning. Off to the store to find that they no longer carried that brand and all the universals did not list that brand. Ended up buying a new DVD player that does not fit in my Entertainment center.

My bad fortune pales when in comparison to Bruce's bad day. Bruce I hope you are able to find gainful employment in the near future.
