My Amazon Prime just renewed. I just cancelled it. $120?!?!?!? I thought the regular price was $60? Are they trying to get rid of this program?
Amazon Prime? Now $120?!?!?

You can find just about anything you're looking for on Amazon.com. And now, you can get it shipped the way you want — fast and free — with Amazon Prime.
For just $79 a year, you'll enjoy an exclusive membership program that gives you and your family the benefits of unlimited express shipping on eligible Amazon.com purchases. -
Well those SOBs charged me $120!!!!
I might could handle $79. Heck I wished I could pay $30 with no upgrade in shipping, just upgrading in handling. I like that Prime orders to go the top of the pile. That has saved me from getting shut out on a few deals. As far as the two day shipping, heck I live 10 miles from one distribution center, 30 miles from a second and third distribution center and I see my Freud Dado set was shipped from a new one in Allentown, about 60 miles away. I get all my stuff next day, once they are shipped, even when I am using one of my non-Prime accounts.Comment

My 2006 membership, in October of that year, was $79. My renewal last month was also $79. Perhaps there is a 2-year option at $120??? (I can't find any mention of it, just thinking out loud...). Definitely would be worth a call, though. Maybe you can get them to compensate you in some way for your emotional distress...

Last year was my first year. I got it free for buying $100 toy gift certificate, it was one of their super deal things. Maybe they are trying to get their money back from last year and all the deal raping I give them! LOL!Comment

My 1st year of prime does not expire til' Aug of 2008. I love it and when I saw the title of this post, it honestly got me a little worried.Chris

I didn't email them. I cancelled it figuring they would come back with a lower offer as companies often do. Saw responses to this tread, went back into my account and was able to reorder year of prime for $79.Comment

Did you get an email about the renewal? I don't know when mine is up.
I don't know what kind of deal they have worked out with UPS but those overnight upgrades much cost them a fortune. I've ordered a $20 book and paid the $2.99 for overnight. For small businesses, that is at least a $30 freight bill.
I would be happy if they only offered the 2-day service and dropped the price.Brian

Brian, they do send you an e-mail, but some spam filters may kill it. You can go here to check out your dates and status. There will be a window come up identifying you as a member, with a "Sign In" link in it you can click for the details.
I'd be willing to bet that they've researched this very thing backwards and frontwards already. They probably have to factor in how much business they would lose if the 1-day option were not available.Comment

I actually found out mine was coming up because the card that they had on record that I used last year had expired and they needed a new CC. When I went in to up date it showed a price of $120.Comment
