A Day At The Senior Center

They are putting in a coffee lounge here at the apartment complex. I stopped by this morning to see how it was coming along and found the manager and maintenance man looking at chair parts and scratching their heads.
They had picked up 3 table and chair sets at Fred Meyer (in boxes). The manager asked if I could figure out how to put them together, I said no problem (a brag).
Needless to say I spent the rest of the day assembling 3 tables and 12 chairs (12 bbl bolts, 51 screws and 48 hex nuts). Really it was a no brainer, just took a bit of time.
Don't think I will stop by the room again until it is finished and the coffee is ready.

It's always better not to go anywhere until you can smell the coffee...

Sometimes I don't like it known that I can fix and assemble things. Too many dumped responsibilities follow that knowledge. And too often the ones asking who don't know how - they still like to do the directing!

It is fun to do something like that when no one is directing.

Dick won't admit it but this is more like a day at the senior center:

I like this sig line. It's like the manic dyslexic agnostic insomniac... Sits up nights, worrying about whether there really is a doG...

Per c.man's post: Leave them alone. They are consenting adults after all but you know that there's alway somene out there who can't just turn their head let them have some harmless fun. Geez, have you had a relative in a home? There are a lot of controls on them. These are necessary for the well being of the residents besides the fact that the home has a significant liability. After Mom and Dad had been there for a year, Dad would say that it was like a prison - I've heard it repeatedly from others in there. I understand his point of view. After taking care of yourself for the vast majority of your life you are suddenly required to sit in certain places for dining, sign out and then back in when you go anywhere, and the list goes on. So, back to the 'adult party', why not stand back and give them some room. And all of this is coming from someone who is pretty prudish (me)!

don't mind the adults partaking in an adult activity, consensually, it's just the image of the basset hound rounding the fire hydrant at a high rate of speed sort of thing...

Dick, at least now you know that the chairs were put together right and that when you do visit the coffee shop when it is all done the chairs will be safe to sit in and there will be no worries about them breaking and hurting yourself or others.

And BTW I am sure that you enjoyed putting them together.
