Thirteen Days til We're Back At Court

November 20th, my wife and I will be back at court. Hearing scheduled (and the birth parents served with summons) for the court to rule on the termination of the birth parents' rights to our foster son.

The case worker feels there's no way the court would allow them to continue to have any right to the child. They've done nothing to gain custody of him these past 7-8 months. So we feel like we have a very good chance at being able to adopt this little man.

We call him Tigger. See attached.

We've been at all the court dates this year. Fun fun !

This guy is the elected judge here. It's REALLY tempting to put Tyler in a Vikings jersey. Tim Irwin played for them at a high level for a long time and we'd like to get him on our side ! Too obvious ?? haha

Best of luck in court. Every kid should have the chance to grow up in a decent environment.

If the judge does terminate the birth parents' rights, what's the next step? Is that the only thing standing in your way now? I'm sure that's an agonizing process and I pray it works out for you and Tyler.

We're very happy to have him as well. Certainly goes both ways. He's brought a lot of happiness to us.

And yes, if they do terminate the birth parents' rights twelve days from now, we'll be on a path to adopting him. The birth parents have 30 days to appeal that decision but I can't imagine what grounds they would have for appeal -- they had every opportunity. We'll be in touch with an attorney to handle the adoption very soon and we can literally adopt as soon as that appeal period ends. Very good chance of it being done by the end of the year.

Thanks for all the wonderful thoughts guys. Much appreciated.
