And I did it on purpose.
Way back in '74, I had one red rose delivered to my bride on this date to commemorate our 1st anniversary. In '75, it was 2 roses and and the tradition continues today with a rose for each year.
Around 11:15 this morning the florist delivered an arrangement of 33 red roses. (To save you the math, there should have been 34.
) She was ready to refuse them and make the kid go get the missing rose when she read the card I wrote. Sure enough it said 33 years.
She called me at work at 11:20, told me she got them, and wanted to know what happened to the missing year. I played dumb until she went through the fact that there were only 33 roses before it 'hit' me that there should have been 34. Many excuses and appologies later I told her I loved her and would make it up to her.
When we get to the restaurant tonight there will be a card on the table that reads,

with the missing rose laying across it.
I owe one to my neighbor, the florist, and the restaurant manager for serving as my accomplices to pull this off!
