Know how it is. I have a young very attractive female Doctor. She is Japanese. Her skin is beautiful and her hands are so dainty, they facinate me, you wonder how she can do surgery with those hands. If she weighs more than 105 I would be supprised. She might get her chance to assist on some surgery I might have to have next year. She is the best I have ever had, we have excellent communication, I can Email her a question and she will answer within 24 hours usually within 3 hrs. She keeps on top of my medical conditons and orders the tests I might need and followups and has called me with the results of some test and then tells me what we are going to do next. I like her because she is conservative on giving medication and the doses. Although she is half my age I trust her completly. She is fun to talk and has a great sence of humor and doesn't take herself seriously all the time and never talks down to you. LOML has to get a new GP and she is trying to get mine as she really likes her. Or maybe it is just to keep track of us.

      My female doctors:

      Urologist
      Gastroenterologist
      Dermatologist
      GP Dentist

Here's the deal. The urologist and the GI are both young and foxes. The gastro doctor is also my wifes' doctor . When you're bent over the table, or asked to cough, those rubber gloves might as well be leather garden gloves.

About 25 years ago when I had back problems I had this physical therapy nurse that could have been a poster girl for Hooters. She had to give me hot oil rub downs. It's kinda hard to get that out of my mind even to this day.

I don't think I'd feel comfortable with a female doctor. Well, if it was for a cut or something, that might be okay.

I have a doctor who checks me for prostate problems once a year. I think he's from India. He is not rough, and I feel comfortable with him. I wouldn't feel comfortable with a female doctor like him. And it wouldn't matter if she were good looking or not.

When I moved out here, I used my wife's family doctor because he could also do my airman medicals...until he started talking about what he'd do if his airplane was damaged in Mexico.

The next doc was a tall, younger (than me), attractive woman. Both my wife and I were patients. No temptation to flirt because she was very married and pleasant but businesslike.

When she left, my wife asked her nurse friends for referrals and this time we got different docs, both female. Mine is about 35 and careful to explain what she's doing. Average looks. And I know for a fact that I'd get laughed at if I tried to flirt.

As Cabinetman points out, the rubber glove might as well be leather. And let's face it, private parts aren't that much different. Once a med student has seen a few, they all tend to look the same.

Besides, the ladies in our midst have probably had their share of exams by male doctors and it's only fair that they guys be examined by women, right?

Agreed, but I fear the unknown. My reaction during the process. That's all I will say, don't want Sam kicking me off of here.

Anyways, the LOML came home this evening. You could tell she was curious what I thought. She asked the typical questions at first with an I'm beating around the bush look on her face: What did she say, about the allergies? What did she give you to take? etc.

Then the loaded question: Was she pretty?

Without missing a beat, "Not at all honey."

Shortly after she had the, you are FOS look on her face.

Tom, I had the same experience, very nice soft hands and skin and the funny thing too, her looks aside, I didn't feel like I was being talked down to, it was very comfortable.

This is so true. I won't even begin to explain the process that we go through for some exams. They are just as painful and uncomfortable as what you guys go through. And all of my doctors have been males. The only female doctor I had was the first visit I had when I found out I was pregnant with Thomas and then she moved to a different town to be with her family and it was back to the male doctor.

My dermatologist is a female, but at first it was hard to tell, she looked more like a linebacker than a doctor. As for comfort levels. I feel more comfortable with female doctors even when the process is in a "touchy" area. It just seems more natural to have the opposite sex doing those kind of procedures. That's just my preference.

I also feel that female doctors are more sensitive and have a more "gentle" touch. Of the ones that have treated me I do feel that they are excellent medical professionals. I have that conception of any female that is doing the job once only men were expected to do. I think they were probably better students and tried harder to "compete" in their field. I see that existing in many other fields such as law, dentistry, architects, race car drivers, and even woodworkers and cabinetmakers.

In the later Corps years when annual physicals were required it was essential to know the corpman that scheduled them. Always scedule when one of the Docs with small hands had the duty. Then check in a week in advance to see if the duty roster had changed and reshedule if need be!

My favorite was a female Lt. Commander. First time she did my physical, at the appropriate moment I hollered "I love Ya, Doc!" After she quit laughing she asked if it made it hurt less. "Nope, just made me feel better about it!"

Only female I see now is my shrink at the VA. Cute little gal from India and an absolute sweetie. I flirt a little in fun and she says it is a break from sessions with most of her patients.
