    great salesmanship

First he prices the item $100 more than it's worth new and then leaves an insulting message as a description. I'm sure this will sell real fast.

...or he will get countless e-mails that just say "golly gee, I wish I could have that" I'm tempted to send a few, but I won't...

I'm thinkin he got an ultimatum from his significant other, "Start using all that crap in you garage or get rid of it." So he posted em for sale at more than they're worth so he can keep em and claim he tried to sell em but no one wanted them. So he gets to keep em in his garage to collect dust.

Sad part is that he probably paid more than that for it. The sander, stand at $75 or so and mobile base at $75 or so.
