Yea, she pulled it off OK but she has that popular gravely voice with the upswing in her tone at the end of a sentence. I guess you would say that she sounds like a 'valley girl'. Heck, I don't even know if people say *that* anymore. At any rate she did redeem herself for the most part.Blessings,
Chiz

Yeah, she did o.k. At least she has the gumption to get on national TV and laugh at herself.
I hate that sing-song voice that teen girls use myself.Comment

Probably, I'm just giving the kid a break. At least she showed up and didn't hide from all the laughing about her appearance in the contest.Comment

Taking a lesson from politicians who have certain canned responses no matter what the question. Even the movie star interviews are canned with pre-planned questions and clauses that the interview can shut down if it goes off-script. Like you said, you can tell if you're being observant or at least using your brain.Blessings,
Chiz

I'd give her credit just for not thinking of a lawsuit right now. And for being a good sport. She just might have salvaged a future career in public relations altogether.
OMG. I really hope she doesn't think about entering politics after all.Comment

The lack of standing never stopped anyone from suing somebody, anybody. If it were anybody else, she would already have lawyers writing a letter to YouTube to pull down her videos, or push on the TV network to use/abuse copyright laws to do so (try posting a video of New Yankee Workshop on YouTube and see how fast that gets pulled).
Could have Google/Youtube forced to identify the people who uploaded her videos and sue them for malicious infliction of emotional harm, or whatever the code words are now for "I felt bad because of what you did, so you owe me millions." Or just generally put up a tantrum of how unfair everyone is.
I really would not have been surprised if her lawyers came up with something. But in this case, she might actually have been smart and laughed along with the rest of us. Pretty soon, this will be forgotten, and the next faux pas (read: Elections '08) will have stolen the spotlight.
After all, what matters is "the cover-up, not the crime."

Okay I have a question, yet again, sorry for sounding like I am totally out of it these days but....
What happened or what did she do to have to redeem herself?
Edit: Never mind I found the thread with the video...Last edited by Mrs. Wallnut; 08-28-2007, 02:31 PM.Mrs. Wallnut a.k.a (the head nut).Comment

I totally agree -- I felt terrible for her. It was darn funny, but she was probably just very nervous and just plan ol' screwed up... A lot of kids that age would have probably seriously contemplated suicide after negative exposure like that. How utterly embarrassing!
I didn't see the Today Show, but I'm glad she had the character and confidence to laugh it off and get on with in.
A career in PR indeed!online at http://www.theFrankes.com
