Most of the time I don't have it on, but I have an old radio that I will sometimes turn on to a classic rock station, baseball, or football. If I have one of the kids or my dad working with me, we just talk when it's quiet enough.

This was a great year to help decide against wasting the money. If you would have done it you would have been upset too much!

I had an old radio / 8-track / record player combo. The slide for the volume would crackle when you tried to adjust the volume a little up or down. Found a newer hardly used AM / FM / Dual Cassette / 5-CD player (that does not work, didn't care) / with remote for $25. Being electronic volume / station verses a slide I don't have to listen to that crackle anymore!!

I like to listen to FM radio about any station will do. I don't care for Rap (not music in my book), or talk radio / sports (can't concentrate on work and listen to them both). I normally just tune out the music in my head. Like radio over CD's / cassette because if something important is happening (storm, breaking news) that they need to interrupt the music I will know about it.

15+ yr old boombox that plays CDs. I burn classic rock or country CD's for the Garage (workshop), or I tune the radio to a classic rock station. Unless I am sanding I can usually hear the music. White noise is good. Spent a career multi-tasking, so concentrating on the hard work is not a problem.
I have a cable outlet in the wall, but have never attached a TV to it. Perhaps next year.

an off brand boombox with a cassette player. THe door is broken off the cassette player so it doesn't play anything. THe thing stays set to one station on the FM side, is plugged into a switched outlet so that it comes on when the lights come one and goes off when the lights go off. On of my kids tossed it in the garbage when they moved out, I rescued it when I took out the trash and stuck it in the shop. It makes noise which is only important when I am sanding, staining or some other inane quiet task.

Oh, since the shop is only about 20 ft from my bedroom window, if anyone is stupid enough to come over the fence with the dobie in the backyard and manage to get in the side door of the shop and then turn on the lights, I can hear the radio in the house. Sort of a poor mans burglar alarm.

I almost never have any entertainment going when I'm working in the shop. I don't need distractions. If I'm just cleaning up, or doing something that doesn't take concentration, I might have a CD playing on a cheapie boombox.

                            AM radio reception

I'd like to listen to an occassional 'talk radio' station but I'm in a bit of a low spot and the reception is lousy. Any suggestions on ramping that up? The single ear antenna is just about useless. I usually raise the ear to touch the foil-faced foam board on the ceiling. I thought that would help but not usually.

Small bookshelf radio/CD/cassette. Speakers hang outside on french cleats. Radio presets are on 2 country stations, one oldies, an easy listening, and a classical station. Mood varies a lot!

I just picked up a set of Sennheiser RS110 FR headphones on eBay for around $30 with shipping. They are not bad and do a decent job. They are 900Mhz RF so there is no line of sight issue. I actually prefer audiobooks from Audible or cd rips. I can just move them to my MP3 player then set connect the player to the transmitter and viola I have wirelless freedom...for not much cash!

I also can stream anything from say my laptop too...like a TV show or movie. Don't watch but find listening works almost as well.
