    Any firemen here?

I have a copy of a partial picture from a newspaper. I'm guessing it was taken 1935 to 1937, but I'm not sure about that. It's certain it is not later than 1939. Here's the question, and you don't have to be a fireman to take a shot at the answer (which I don't know). I noticed that one man is wearing a jacket with 8 buttons on the front, while the others have 6 buttons. Does anyone have an idea what this signifies? I also have another picture of firemen sitting in a fire truck. I'd like to be able to target the year of the fire truck in that picture, but haven't had any luck online. Any ideas?

the man with 8 buttons is shorter than the other guys. So its just his lack of stature that makes him look like has has more buttons...

If that were true, you'd think the guy on his left would only have two buttons.

I was going to say a different style of uniform older or newer. After kajendo's post I agree with his reasoning that it's a newer style uniform. Don't think it would signify rank.
