    At the Pearly Gates

The bell rings at the Pearly Gates. Saint Peter opens the gate but there's
    no one there.

A couple of minutes later the bell rings again. Saint Peter opens the gate.
No one there. "That's strange," he says as he goes back to heaven.

Again the bell rings 10 minutes later. Again there is no one there. "OK,
what is going on?" Saint Peter grumbles as he heads back to heaven.

A fourth time the bell rings. Saint Peter rushes to the gate, flings it open
    - and again - no one. Now he's getting really annoyed. This time he stands
    right next to the gate.

Five minutes later - bell rings. Saint Peter immediately opens the gate to
    find no one there again!

"I'll put a stop to this," he thinks, and stands outside the gate.

Just a few minutes later the bell rings! Saint Peter looks down and sees a
    shriveled old man.

"Are you the one who keeps ringing the bell and then going away?" he asks
    angrily.

    "Yes," answers the man.

Saint Peter asks, "And just why would you do that?"

"I'm awfully sorry," answers the old man.

              Unfortunately too true.

I want to die in my sleep like grandpa, not yelling and screaming like the passengers in his car as it went over the cliff.
