Fantastic shot, Sam! That one has to be blown up and framed.

Great pic Sam! Here in the inland Northwest Eagles are a common sight but even then each sighting seems special. I agree print some copies and give to each Webelos when they earn their Arrow of Light. Truely a moment they will remember for most of their lives.

            Morning Sam...

I have always been fasincated with Eagles.. hawks and wolves. Have seen many of the last two, but never an eagle in it's natural habitat.

Price of picture probably around $.12... Price picture.........................

            PRICELESS..

            Regards...

                Nice picture!

They nest along the Mississippi and are very common around La Crosse. I've see a dozen or so hanging out on the ice in early spring catching fish where the ice has melted. A friend of mine counted 100 at one time on the ice.

They are regal birds, and despite his intelligence one wonders why Ben Franklin was in favor of the Wild Turkey. On the other hand, he was a bit of a tippler, and as one of the founding fathers maybe he understood politicians too well...

That is an awesome picture. I would certainly have that blown up, build a great frame for it, and having it hanging right in the middle of my living room!!

Bald eagles are gigantic birds...you don't really realize it watching them fly, but if you ever get close to one, especially on the ground, it gives you a good idea of exactly how big they are. I don't doubt they could pick up a good sized dog and fly off with it.

That is a beautiful photo. We were out in a boat for the 4th yesterday, and saw several eagles in flight. They have come back in decent numbers in the Pacific NW. I still get a zing every time I see one.

                      Bald Eagle Returns

Times, it seems, have changed. This comes off of the CBS website:

Today, there are nearly 10,000 mating pairs of bald eagles in the contiguous 48 states, compared to a documented 417 in 1963.

I found out a lot digging into the hits google gave me:

Nice shot Sam and quite a coincidence. I just now packaged up a similar photo that I took here in Alaska last February and mailed it to some tourist in New Hampshire this morning.

awesome pic!! everything in focus and the full extension...just beautiful!

I live in Santa Barbara County near the nother most range for the California Condors. I like to disappear into the mountains on hikes and hope that one day I can see one close enough to get a picture. I have seen them flying miles away but never close enough to truely see them beyond "...hey those are some BIG vulture birds...wait!! those are tooooo mig...condors...!!" But one day maybe I'll be lucky enough to snap a pic.

                              Thanks for sharing!!!
