    well this just stinks!

I was having a great day today! I was at the old house dismantling to dust collector so I could move it to the new shop (that went well). My daughter called to tell us she was in the early stages of labor with grandbaby #8, grand daughter #5. Everything was great until I tripped going out the door of the old shop and broke my ankle!

I spent the rest of the day at the emergency room, just got home a little while ago. The good news is that the emergency room docs that looked after me didn't think I'd need surgury to repair the damage, but the final call will be by the ortho doc on Monday.

I learned something today, old guys don't bounce, we break!!!!!!!! So, you "old guys" and "more mature ladies" out there be careful!!!!!!

So much for the old phrase: "the harder you fall, the higher you bounce!"

I feel for you Larry, and discovered the same thing at the turn of this century by falling off of a ladder at 2 feet above the ground! Broke my wrist in two places. My accident happened on a weekend too and I had to wait until the following Monday for another inspection.

Larry, Look at the almost good part of it.. you won't have to mow the yard during the heat of the summer. Hopefully you are lucky and the bone stretcher likes what he sees and doesn't have to do much.

As far as not having a good day, I had 3 courses of siding to hang and it had to be behind a large shrub. The area was 5' wide, corner to a window J. So I setup a ladder on each side of the shrub. I couldn't open the 2 step ladders because of other plants, so I had to lean them against the house. The smaller ladder decided to sink in the mulch in a rather uneven manner and over it went. I am used to working on akward stuff and I easily jumped clear and landed on 2 feet. Luckily I was only 4 or 5' off the ground. But I bent the crap out of the step ladder when I jumped off and it tookout the downspout for the gutter. Cost - A few fried brain cells, a new step ladder & new downspout.

              Larry,

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. I hope you heal quickly.

Think of the great story you have to tell your new grand baby. You were so excited to see him/her that you broke your ankle getting there.

Or, how he/she got the nickname Trip.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. I found out that old guys don't bounce a few years ago, when I fell off the top of a ladder onto a concrete flower bed. That cost me 3 broken ribs, and that was very painful. I hope your ankle doesn't give you too much trouble.

Congrats to you and your daughter. Maybe when you get to see the new family addition, it'll make you feel a little better.

I see no reason you can't still fly though. Most pilots are sitting down anyway aren't they? Don't push it though. Not only do we break easier with age, we heal slower too.
