    I am paranoid

Allright, so I am probably paranoid, but am required to be for certain instances (because of work I have done).

I received just a little bit ago, a package tracking information email, a legitimate one. It says something is to be delivered on Friday, but I have NO idea what or from whom?

Does anyone know how to decipher UPS tracking codes, as embeded in their algorithum, is supposed to be the shipped from zip code.

Already checked my email accounts and things like Ebay and Amazon, and no one else has access to my pc's (haven't seen any signs of being hacked yet).

    Thanks

If you're sure the e-mail is legit, did you go to UPS' website & check the tracking information? It should tell you when it shipped from. If it's shipping from a familiar company it would provide some relief.

Otherwise, I guess I'd be careful around any packages that are delivered to your door. If you have reason to suspect, I'd be cautious about opening a package from any address you don't recognize.

Let me clarify a little bit.

I received an email with a tracking number, that has

" Billing information has been sent to UPS. Check site later for updated shipment status or contact shipper for more details."

No idea who the shipper is, and it doesn't say.

I haven't ordered anything with that email address in a bit (received everything I had), so I am trying to nip any stolen info in the bud.

        Am I paranoid ?

Probably not....but I think I would check with UPS and see if they can
shed any light on what is going on before I would open it.

Just to be on the safe side do not click on any links in the email. Access the ups website by typing in the url the hard way.

I cut the tracking no and paste it on the UPS wedbsite
That will tell you when it shipped and where it shipped from. that might give you a clue.

Any rebate-items (not cash) due you? a back order you forgot about from Amazon or HF or similar?

Sounds fishy. As Loring said, cut tracking info and paste into UPS website.

If it checks out then just sit back and wait to see what it is. No point sweating it.

Well, the shippers info finally appeared.

I know who shipped it, but am unsure what it is. I've ordered a bit from them before, so this could be one of the upgrades they recently offered free (I haven't had time to respond to), this could also be something from a contest I won a while back. I thought I had received it all though.

So it should be a good suprise.

Talk about good surprises. I once got a call from a shipping company asking if I was available to take a delivery. I said sure, and spent next couple hours racking my brains for what might it be as I could not recall ordering anything from anyone recently.

Then, the delivery guy arrived and rolled in.....

Two large cases of real nice, hard to find Scottish BEER!!!

I ordered that beer about 8 months earlier, and they turned out to be out of it, and I chose 'wait till it's available' option rather than cancel the order. I totally forgot about it.
