    Best Non-Lethal Weapon

So this question is for you guys that subscribe to those wierd magazines.

What is the best, most effective non-lethal form of weapon?

Anyone have any experience with Taser M18L?

I had a brilliant employee advise a client that he was packing heat. The client has refused to continue doing business until I have a corporate weapons statement. I want my weapons statement to cover everything EXCEPT the item that is decided as most effective.

    Thanks
    Jeff

Well, best weapon is one that is intimidating enough that its look is usually enough to deter without having to use it. M18L, with its gun-like look and laser, looks kinda threatening, but I wonder if one might think he is being threatened with a toy gun? And even though it can be used as a regular stun gun after firing, I'd still be dubious about facing multiple opponents.

You ask me, a pump shotgun loaded with rubber slugs is the ticket.

      A Wolf.

I've had people turn and walk away fast on seeing Lakota, convinced he was one and he's a husky. Wolves are about 2x the size. Not many people are willing to stand up to one long enough to find out how tough they are.

What good is a non-lethal weapon. If you use something that barely kills someone, they'll get up and be rip roaring mad and come after you. It's my experience that you don't want them to get up...at least any time soon...or at least giving you time to run your a$$ off.

Just about anything used as a weapon MAY cause eventual death, thereby making it lethal. Hitting them with an apple pie could choke them, causing suffocation, and death. Yeah.

Hmm, not too sure about that. Isn't death similar to pregnancy. Even if you're a little dead, you're dead.

A Divorce Lawyer at the front door, that will chase away all but the most hardened criminals. The rest, .357 Magnum. Just the sight of one with a 9" barrel will cause them to have to change their underwear. Had a situation a few years back where a Meth addict was harassing us. He came to the front door, I opened it and stuck it in his face. Haven't seen him since. Wasn't even loaded.

Not sure what non-lethal weapon would be the best. I agree with Cabinetman, if you gotta get violent, you want to win. Draws hurt too much. If you don't want a lethal weapon, then a couple of Rottweillers will deter 99.9% of the bad guys.

Otherwise I have to agree, an attorney.
In fact, I think you might be wise to see one about this policy, to cya.

Are you sure that your customer isn't looking for a "no" weapons policy. The place I used to work did not allow ANY weapons on the property. They even went so far as to state that Leatherman tools were weapons because of the knife blade. I found it strange because I figured I could stab someone with a screwdriver before they unfolded their multi use tool.

But back to your non-lethal weapon need. I remember reading that a man with a quarter-staff could keep a swordsman at bay. "No, I'm not happy to see you. That's my staff"
Oh what a tangled web we weave, when we are all hopped up on caffine.

Jeff, your employee is a dumb%^& for telling them he is packing. Try the tasers on him.

                      Excellent idea!

BTW, it is the Philadephia garbage that is creating this problem for me. Now do you see what the problem is?

                        I agree with both Mikes.

Huskies! My samoyed is perceived as a snowball by kids and harmless people, but mean-looking guys in inner-city Baltimore would actually cross the street to avoid him. (And one gang leader came up and offered a stud fee for his pit bull female...I had to explain that the result would be a strangely-tufted creature with strange looking ears, like something from Dr. Seuss).

But the other Mike has a point...how did the 'brilliant' employee start discussing guns with a client, anyway?

Claims adjusters armed with Rottweilers! Why didn't I think of that? That would be classic!

Unfortunately, we can't choose to do business only in safe cities. Violence is a fact of life in some neighborhoods.

The policy will definately be written by my attorneys office.
