    First time away

    I mean really away! Number one daughter left this morning for Quebec city for the grade eight trip. Never has she been this far before ( http://maps.google.ca/maps?sourceid=...+quebec+quebec)and Dad's feeling a little distracted . Guess it's something I will have to get used to. I took the day off work so I could see her off and spend some shop time. You know I'll be the first one at the school on friday waiting for the bus to arrive.

          What broke me up was driving away and leaving her (my daughther) in the freshman dorm at college for the first time.

          Quebec City is a beautiful city. She should enjoy her trip.

              This year our twins had 5th grade camp and were gone 2 nights and 3 days and I was glad they came home but I enjoyed the time with them gone. Now this summer we have two different things going on.

              One is our daughter is going to Girl Scout horse camp and will be gone for a couple of nights. I still worry about her going.

              But the thing that I might not be able to handle is when our son goes to Boy Scout camp. He will be gone for a week and his dad is not going with him at all.

              I miss the kids when they leave and enjoy the first couple of hours of peace and quiet and then I wish they were home.

                  It's amazing. We spend so much time worring about our kids, then when they're finally grown, for the most part, they do just fine.

                          I know how you feel.

                          Last May I sent my 18-year-old daughter off to Israel to study for one year. I visited her in January, and found she was having a GREAT time. In fact so great she plans on going back there to finish her studies. She just came home last week, and will be here 'til the end of June when she'll be leaving again.

                          Of course, I'm happy that she has found something that excites her. Too bad it couldn't have been a couple thousand miles closer!

                              Our daughter went to London to work a year ago. It's tough on her mom but me - I wish I'd had the opportunity at her age. Plus we get to visit.

                                  Our daughter is off in Pittsburgh as a freshman in college at Chatham. I think I had a tougher time when she 1st left than momma did. My son is in The Texas Show in Amarillo (he lives in Ohio), so it's nice having him close. Well 10 hours away, but better than 1800 miles! We'll be making a couple trips up to see the show and spend time with him.

                                  Wasn't it just a couple days ago we were taking them to kindergarten?
                                  If it ain't one thing... It's 12 @#$%ing things!
