What are your projects for the summer?

I just got back from Lowe's and I am in trouble. We took advantage of a lowes offer and got materials for things on "The List". I now have a pantry to put in. A retaining wall to build. New interior doors to install.A fence to extend. A bunch of painting and staining and my one personal WW project. I get to build a couple of Adirondack chairs. The joys of summer. What do you guys have planned?

Right now I am finishing up with a couple of end tables(paying job). Next I guess I have to work on the main floor bathroom that I started last year. It's mostly done but I have to finish a large cabinet, build a new medicine cabinet, and make a cover for the vent. Today I'm going out for supplies to make up the reckroom and still try to find the time for a number of shop projects .

The big job for this summer is going to be to tear out and replace/rebuild the front flooring, bannisters and posts on the porch of our 115 year old house. Should be fun!!

          Lessee...

Set up the pool. Replace the front and rear entry doors. Finally build my driveway pillars - that got moved up the list after LOML backed off the culvert a few weeks ago. Not that this means anything but in 2 yrs the half a dozen people who have backed off the culvert have all been women. No guys. Maybe replace the rear deck. Still talking to LOML about that one.

            1. I've got to build a graduation gift for my 18 year old daughter....leaning towards a hope chest from QSWO.

            2. I'm also past due on a chest of drawers/small armouir for our master bathroom.

            3. I"ve always wanted to build a grandfather clock...dunno if I'll get to it this year or not.

            4. Been talking about moving our shed and putting in a patio...time will tell!

            5. I want to build another tube amp for my son's guitar...dunno if I'll get to that this summer either, but is something I can work on over the winter.

I'm now working on a QSWO boot bench and after I finish that I'll be doing a bookcase for my son which was to be for Christmas. After that I plan to get started on next years Christmas gifts (maybe they all be on time this year )
All this will be sandwiched around traveling with my wife to quilt shows.

#1 project is to build a playset for my son. Cut down a tree (trunk half rotten) where the playset will go yesterday. I cut most of the lumber on Saturday. Plus for me, I got a Ridgid MSUV out of the deal.

Other projects down the list include finishing the kitchen cabinet trim, new patio, planting at least one new tree in the backyard, fixing the old brick stoops and walk in front and on the side of the house, either new garage or major re-roof of existing.

Nothing on the second list will happen until #1 is finished.

                    1) Help SWMBO landscape the yard--including, but not limited to, mulching, planting, weeding, putting in a path (including making custom stepping stones), small retaining wall in front of said path, planting several small trees...

                    2) Preparing for annual garage sale.

                    2) Finish our kitchen floor and cabinet trim.

                    3) Purchase and set up pool.

                    3) Re-finish an old desk of my dad's.

                    4) Repair garden bench.

                    5) Repair shed door.

6)) Countless little "Honey-Do's" that seem to eat weekends--retouching paint, fixing towel racks, re-painting rooms at SWMBO's whims...

                    7) and also take care of 3 kids...and of course fit in 50 hour work weeks.

8)...and at the end of summer, reverse all the above in prep for winter and then stand back and wonder where the summer went...

I just made my list last week and had to prioritize it. The list might be pretty similiar for the fall but I'm hoping not.

                      1) 10 tool boxes for my son's workshop in 2 weeks. Plus sanding blocks and plug saws

                      2) Toy rack (to hold bins)

                      3) Desk

                      4) Living Room end tables

                      5) Outdoor planters (I'm guessing later then planting season)

                      6) picture frames

                      7)A chairs

                      8) rocking horse
                      Eric

                            My List

Thanks for asking the question. This should help me get organized.

                            1) hang drapes in master bedroom
                            2) weed & seed lawn
                            3) help kids build mother's day present (shh, don't tell her)
                            4) get rid of an old unused refrigerator taking up valuable shop space
                            5) build a sanding station in workshop

Then I can get on to the main summer project:
                            6) design & build a dining cabinet. something like this.

                            Wish me luck!
