I thought it was interesting but not very well thought out.
First they compared shelf-rabbet joints in plywood to doweled and M&T joints in what looked like 1x3 edge connected to 1 x 3. Was it supposed t compare? Like apples and oranges. Also the tests were run with cantelevered force which peeled open the top of the joint. Few woodworking projects are built to withstand cantelever forces. More realistic would be to test the shear strength of the joint where both ends were supported. (like weight on a shelf or s fat guy standing on a coffee table.)
Finally they tested an inverted T-joint with butt, dowel and M&T connections, trying to pull the T- apart with upwards force. I can think of very few situations in woodworking projects where this kind of abuse would occur. Maybe someone trying to spread apart the legs of a table with a car jack? How often does that occur as opposed to other abuse?

If your only tool is a hammer, you tend to treat all problems as if they were nails.
