    New Camera

I got a new camera last week (Nikon D200) and got a Lexar 4GB 133x CF card) They only support Lexar and San Disk.(other will work but they haven't been tested by nikon) Ritz Camera had the card on sale for $150 and a $32 rebate so I got it. I got a San Disk II 2GB as back up today ($40 @ best buy) and it is noticably slower when reviewing pics on the LCD.
I didn't even try to transfer them to the computer but im sure that will be a lot slower. Even with the good one it takes a while to move 100 pics to the computer.
Now they have even faster ones out. San Disk IV and Lexar 300X.
The camera might improve but I don't need any more performance unless it somehow extended battery life but they are super expensive so I have no intentions of buying one.

If I fill up a card with 4 GB Its going to take forever to load.
They do have a wirless G tranmitter grip(and I think there is also an ethernet connection) I can get for the camera to transfer pics which would probably be the fastest way to do it but its over $300 and it only holds one battery instead of 2 on the other verticle drip.

Anyone know of any tweaks to improve the speed of a card reader? I have a built in card reader on my HP Athlon desktop and bought a PCMIA Reader for my laptop.

    few pics

Here are a few pics from it by the way. all under 30 second exposures.
I have to get a cable release too which they are kinda expensive compared to the old screw in wire ones. I just used my timer for these.

I assume your camera has a USB 2 connection and the computer the same.

Your connection interface is one potentially limiting factor.
      USB 2 has a transfer rate of approx. 20 MBytes/sec (0r ~50 seconds/GB)
USB 1 has a transfer rate of around 1 MB/ Sec
802G wireless has a maximum transfer rate of 54MBits/sec or around 5 MB/sec. A good USB 2 connection is faster.

The other limiting factor is the memory speed.
The newer, larger memories are generally faster, there are often speed grades among the more recent, high capacity memories like SD. Most of the time the memory card is the limiting factor, I don't think they can keep up with the connection interfaces.

Finally, a faster memory card improves the speed with which your camera can write pictures and therefore determines the delay between shots.
