Unless I missed something, I think the specific request (in another thread) was for a jigs and fixtures Articles section, rather than a discussion section. I'd have to think about it some more but offhand it seems like expanding Articles would be the better approach.

Couldn't we have an articles section AND a discussion section for Jigs & fixtures. I could see people discussing how to make a certain jig, or how to use it, having trouble using / building one that is in article section, not sure what jig / method to use to tackle a certain project, revamping it to fit their equipment, etc.
I'm all for not having to many forums. I'm also for having more (if we have more) on woodworking topics only, keep them general. Like "Jigs & Fixtures", "Carving (hand and machine)", etc.
Ric, this is obviously just one guy's opinion, but I personally think a little artful re-titling of the existing sections is probably all that's necessary. As others have mentioned, having more discussion sections virtually always has the exact opposite effect of what one might think in terms of "organizing" the various discussions. IMO we already have enough, but might be able to use them a little more effectively.
Turning is a special flavor of woodworking ... carving is too ... and the current Turning section doesn't see all that much traffic. So my suggestion would be to rename the current section to Turning And Carving and give the carvers a home without adding any more new sections.
Similarly, Jigs & Fixtures might be incorporated into the existing Shop Setup, Layout, And Design section. Both broad subjects cover "overhead" issues related to woodworking that are not woodworking per se. (Admittedly, one stumbling block to this suggestion would be to come up with a name that tells the story without being as long as a gothic novel ... maybe something like Shop Setup, Jigs, and Workstations?)
When the weather is warm enough (if it's below 70 degrees my shop is closed) I spend a lot of time working on my Bugatti kit car which is always in need of tinkering.
I agree with simple, I don't want to see TOO many different forums. On the other hand I do see some things in different sections. For example does a Jig question (as the forums are now) go in:
Tool Talk - some people would call them a tool.
Project related discussions - your jig could be a project in itself.
Shop Setup, Layout and Design - Your jig could be part of the shop
Getting started - What jig(s) do I make first?
I have seen jig questions in all of those, and others.
Keeping the same number of forums and re-arranging would work. Some are hardly used, others get zillions of posts a day.
The router turned out better than expected and I'm able to mill aluminum on it. Wohooo! It won't do steel and I make some steel parts. I have been slowly amassing everything for a second and third CNC machine. Currently working on a mill and then a plasma cutter. I was thinking it might be interesting to post the build log for this here. The last time I mentioned this, I got lots of interest. I enjoyed Larry's Helo threads. Those kites are very cool.
...
Oh please don't do that, I'm trying hard not to take the dive right now and that would make it that much harder .
What about having a sub-forum of Around the Coffee Pot called "Other Hobbies"?
Second hobbies? Should we stop there? My other interests/hobbies are;
electronics, I refurbish and calibrate test equipment, vintage HP stuff mostly.
Restore very old car radios.
Wire and stick welding, although you DO get your hands dirty.
Fire arms, I like to reload and target shoot.
