What are you doing this weekend?

Other than going to ACE for the Bag Sale?

Wood-wise, I'll be "mastering the miter" in preparation for a mirror project. Also build some drawers for the shop cabinets.

Otherwise, recording voice-overs for a CBT project at work.

Went to see "Terabithia" yesterday. There is so much parallelism between the two main characters and my son and his friend it's almost scary.

Hope you have a good one!

Chris I'm doing something that I've been putting off for a year. I am cutting the miter shorter on a countertop that I salvaged out of a remodel. It is the last piece of countertop that has to be installed, I've done the rest this week. Bill

The only thing any red blooded American male would be doing. This is the Daytona 500 weekend. Busch series race today and the Cup race tomorrow. May get the shop cleaned up during the pre-race shows though. Pat

        Howdy Chris...

What do you mean, "what are ya doing". Popeye nailed it as "The DAYTONA 500" is a National Holiday... isn't it? :>)

In tween racin' events I'm tricking out a reco Uni-saw with a semi-quick release splitter, a Euro crown gaurd instead of that plastic thing-a-ma-jig and a Euro short fence right over the top of that long Bieseymer.

Changing electrical plugs to safety twist-on types to fit my 220v outlets, fine tune the jointer.. building a new base plate for the 12" SCMS on a mobile stand as MadMac58 dropped by this morning and purchased my 10" SCMS. He got my 6" jointer two weeks ago. Alan is on a roll and his wife Tiny is cheering him on. Don't get any better than that. ha.. ha...

Other than that.. nuthin'! Well.. except observing a National Holiday!

        Regards...

This morning the neighbor called--he had gotten his wife's car and his pickup both stuck in drifts in their driveway. Since he got his back hurt, he can't lift the heavy stuffs, so I helped him put the blade on his tractor, then we towed out the pickup and I shoveled out around the Cadillac and pushed it out of the drift. I scooped their walk while I was down there, just to be neighborly.

Tomorrow night me and LOML are celebrating Valentine's. The kids go to Grandpa's for the night. I'll leave your imaginations to fill in the rest.

Today, I corrected yesterday's mistake (only cost me $75 to change a light bulb!
I noticed one of the lights was out on the exterior garage lights, so, in an attempt to surprise LOML and change it before being asked, I went out to change a light bulb!
A simple 30 second job turned into a nightmare. The bulb wouldn't turn, the extire socket turned. I had to disassemble the light fixture so I could tighten the socket, loosen and change the bulb. Now, I failed to mention that it was very unseaonably cold here yesterday. Got the bulb changed and tried to reattach the fixture to it's holding arm/base. The wire and it's braided sleeves would not slide back into the arm so I decided the base/arm would have to come away fron the brick. I undid the two bolts and gave the arm a tug. The arm broke off, but everything else stayed attached!
So, as I said, today I corrected a mistake! The new fixtures actually match the color of the brick and roof better and look GOOD.

I'm digging dirt/sand, tying rebar and finishing setting forms for my new 20x30 driveway. pics will come soon.

if someone can tell me what I need to buy at the ACE sale I will go buy it. the problem is that I'm in there so much I usually don't need anything else. if they only carried more ww tools...

As my legs are still not up to standing in the shop It looks like tomorow will be watching the Daytona 500 and drinking beer. Could be worse.

I did it today. Wired lights in the shed and installed the new kitchen sink. Tomorrow I will clean the shop - it is a wreck from the past month and may start doing the kitchen painting.

My daughter and her husband are moving, so I'll be busy with them for the biggest part of 2 days. If there's time left, I think I need to replace the garage door opener, but not certain till I see what's not working right. Not a fun weekend.

The Otter house is taking its second step to being a greener house. We are adding lighting control to the house. I still have to add motion sensors but I will be doing power management by insuring no lights burn while no one is in the room.

Phase 1 was a advanced HVAC control, add lighting and soon residing and insulating the house is next.

Thanks, now I don't feel so bad.

The majority of today was spent replacing the plastic gears in my garage door opener. There was more plastic shavings than gear in the housing by the time the thing failed.

The parts store I intended to go to was closed Saturdays, so I had to drive 1 hr round-trip for the parts. After the place had closed at 1:00, I realized I left my credit card there.

All in all, the fix went pretty smoothly. And the parts store was one block from a Lowes, which I'd never been to before, since this is probably the closest one. (Luckily I had a second credit card on me.) So, that accounted for about two hours!

                            Regards,
                            Tom

Shoved snow today, played with the kids out in the snow/ice. Speed sleding! I did get out ot the shop today to plane, joint, cut some Cherry panels for a project. I perm mounted the Trition 3.25 into my insert earlier and will have to take 10-15 minutes to go out in the cold shop to finish the raised panels. I also received the potassium dichromate and plan to play with it later if I get a chance.
Tomorrow will be hanging with the kids, then putting 8-10 hours in tomorrow evening for work.
