    Irony

In the next chapter of the never-ending kitchen counters (a full writeup will come at some point) our hero is attempting to recover from his fiasco of a few weeks ago. This week we find him dealing with suppliers. Monday he calls around. The only supplier who says they normally stock it are out but the product he wants can be ordered. Crokett asks about processing fees and shipping and is told there is no special order fee but shipping is 30 bucks. He asks for it to be ordered. Thursday he calls back to confirm the order and said order can't be found. Eventually Crokett finds out that not only was it not ordered, but to do so is a 75.00 special order fee+60.00 shipping. This more than triples the cost of the product.

Friday our intrepid homeowner makes more calls. He talks to another company who says the rep he talked to Monday is a newbie. While they don't stock the product anymore, said newbie did not know they have plenty of it in the wharehouse and can sell it from the dock. Crokett asks for directions. It turns out it is 5 minutes from Crokett's house.

I don't know if that newbie rep is smart or stupid. Almost made $135 extra commission.

Loring, reading my original post I wasn't all that clear. The company that messed up the order and the one with the newbie rep are different companies. The company I did buy the concrete topping from was actually quite pleasant to deal with. At some point I will go by their showroom and get a catalogue.
