    A winter hike

Just before the arctic temps hit us, I took the entire day Saturday and hiked at Bad Branch state nature preserve in Letcher, County Kentucky with my oldest son David and my boss.

Here is a link to a slideshow. I am playing around with Photodex ProShow Gold's "webshow" feature. Lemme know how it works if you decide to view it. It does require that you install a browser plugin to view it.

P.S. I'm the one snapping the pics, so there is only one of me. I look pretty haggard in it!

I'm sure those are pretty pictures. How big is the file? I left it for a few minutes and all it ever said was it was buffering with the slidy bar moving back and forth.

I am using IE7 if that matters.

          Sam,

Wow, that is really beautiful. You made the right choice, putting your hobby on the back burner. They will never be this age again and you are giving them memories they will long treasure.

I was lucky enough to explore quite a bit near the Ky/Tenn border when I was a Ft. Campbell. We spent a lot of time exploring around the Cumberland. And going caving. Sometimes it was so green it hurt your eyes.

I found it on freeplaymusic.com. It's called "Cat Briar Road"

              Sam,

Worked this time. Those are some great pictures. Thanks for sharing them with us.

Sounds like you had a great hike. Would have liked to have seen the pictures but I can't get to them on my Mac.

                    Sam,
What great pictures. I bet that place is beautiful in the Fall when all of the leaves are changing colors.

Great pictures, loved the music. You are doing the right thing by spending time with the boys, it will pay off in the end. I did the Soccer, Little League thing and the competitive cycling with them along with fishing and camping and didn't regret it one bit. Now that I am retired I don't feel guilty when I indulge my self in woodworking or my vintage race car. Both boys turned out great and I have 4 grand children to spoil now.

That was really cool Sam. Good photography, and looks like a day well spent.

I normally run Firefox and it didn't offer to install the plugin or let me download it. I would guess they may have a plugin on their website but I opted to just use IE for it instead and that worked fine.

Wonderful way to spend time.....and the opportunities diminish way too quickly. I haven't been up that way, but it sure looks inviting. Always looking for new "territory", and maybe I can get one of my sons to get back into it (still talks about Philmont, but won't admit how much he really enjoyed it).
