One thing I've never understood is why Civil Engineers work in feet and Architects in inches. Everytime I get a site plan I have to scale it by 12.

Which other countries, besides the U.S., do not use the metric system?
          - Liberia (in western Africa)
          - Burma (also known as Myanmar, in Southeast Asia)

Those countries that DO use the Metric System, and the date:

              JSCOOk indicates that 12" = 300mm or 304.5mm, but I'm not certain it shouldn't be 304 9/64mm.

                    Mark,

Please pass me my .3333333333333 of the pizza.

The most significant boost in metric knowledge in the USA came from DRUGS.

Who knew what a kilo was before marijuana or a gram before cocaine?

I was a surveyor in the Army. All our work was in mils. 6400 degrees in a circle rather than 360. I think a mil was the width of a meter at 1000 meters.
