Dang, I bet that did hurt, Mark. Thanks for the reminder, we all tend to get lax after long periods with no blood flowing. Hope it heals soon and completely.

Mark, I hope you heal fast and completly. Take the remains of the piece you were working on and put it where you can see it everytime you walk into the shop, that should keep you thinking safe for a bit.

In case any of the lurkers here wonder why we post when we get careless, it's to remind ourselves that wood working demands a level of caution. I gaurentee that everyone who read this looks at their router and table a little closer today.

        Mark,
I hope you heal quickly and endure the pain with the least discomfort.

I am reminded once again, that I have never gotten a scratch on the job but have had index finger and thumb contact saw blades that were moving even though the switch was off on two occasions. Both times were off duty projects like many of you guys do on your days off.

When I worked a machinist's lathe, I never got a scratch even though the beast had taken an arm off the previous machinist. Fear is a great motivator and as a musician losing a digit is terrifying, much less a limb.

        Be careful out there guys,
        DP

I'm sure that You realize the importance of shop safety again now. I was reminded last year and still fidget when I think how close I came. Get Well, Your Friend, Bill

gosh!! sounds bad. I once cut the tip of my finer off with a brand new x-acto knife. Took part of the nail off. It it had cut ANY (1+mm) deeper, I would have needed to have reconstructive surgeury, and rehab to get use of that finger again. (left middle finger.)

Glad to hear you survived, and that you don't get quesey.

Go give your wife a big kiss. Your married, and had someone there. I am still a single person and was replacing a fuel pump on a vehicle that you had to loosen the heat shield on the exhaust. As I was dropping the tank, it slipped and sliced into my finger, and I believe cut a muscle. As I had no one around, and had to finish the job, I cussed, cursed myself, FINALLY got it to stop bleeding, and tried to avoid getting gas in it.

I have seen a few other accidents, it only takes a second, better get your wife something nice, like a promise to stay in one piece!
She couldn't tell the difference between the escape pod, and the bathroom. We had to go back for her.........................Twice.

Sorry to hear about your accident Mark but glad that it is not worse. Wish you a quick recovery (and less pain). Thanks for the reminder.
