    Do not call list

You can now register Your Home Phone and Cell phone#'s for the National Do Not Call Registry. This link will give You a number to call, You have to call it from the phone You are registering, or You can register 3 phones online. Just be sure to reply to the emails they send back to You. It is good for 5 years. HTH, Bill

Yep, got it on both and it eliminates everything but "good deals" from the cell provider. Pat

Thanks! Bubby of mine gave me the link a few years ago. Since moving I have been getting a ton of the automated telemarket calls which I cannot stand. Just registered.

Frequently states have do not call lists as well.

I registered for that when it first started. It cut out a lot of the pestering calls but I still receive one occasionally.

Here's one for you. I am a state employee. Yesterday, we were having an election for the personnel board. About 20 state employees are running for it, with voting ending next Friday. About 2:00 yesterday afternoon, my entire office was called simultaneously by one of the candidates via a telemarketing center. This candidate was a former city coucil member with questionable ethics (at best).

Being the phone system admin, I wish I had gotten the caller id. I'll have to check the logs next week. If I can, I think I'm going to report this to the appropriate folks and see what can be done. If nothing can be done, I'm going to see if I can block the telemarketer from flooding my system again.

I think political calls are exempted from the do not call program.

It doesn't eliminate political calls. So hey Popeye, how about a dime everytime one calls me? Don't have that much money, do you?

Not all, but a lot of these, come over caller id's as Name Unknown, or Name Unavailable. Next election time, pass around air horns.

Boy, could have guess that one, right!? Also exempt are charitable groups. There is also an opt-out available to get you off of the "pre-approved for a credit card" applications. I believe that it's 1-888-5 opt out. You then have to give your SS # (scary) and choose between a temporaty removal and a permanant removal. They then send you a paper document that you must sign and return to have your name removed from Equifax, Experian and the other one (?). I got this off the today show a couple of weeks ago and did, indeed, get the verification paaperwork.
