At last! I'm one of the "lucky" people that works in one time zone and lives in another. My home province doesn't do the DST thing, so for 6 months, we're on the same time.

I'm at work tonight, so I get to have two 0200's. Oh joy!

Makes you kinda wonder who had the gumption to start a movement to have EVERYBODY play with their clocks twice a year, and get them to do it.

Government meddling. DST is the same deal as paying ten thousand bucks in taxes and getting excited about getting fifty back as a refund.

We use to be an exception, until the local (state) politicians decided what was best for everyone in the state. (personal rant)

Changing the clocks twice a year for a 12 hour change is BS. Why can't the morons (spelled politicians) pick one time and let it be.

Clock Madness

Oh yeah; time again for the semi-annual stupidty! It all started back during the first WW..gov't thought they would give the farmers a break so that at one end of the day they wouldn't have to milk by lantern lite. Typical gov't can't seem to understand that we now have electricity and all this does is screw around with the WHOLE country. As far as kids GOING to school in the dark; well now they have to COME home in the dark! Go figure

It snuck up on me this year. I got up and found out I was a hour ahead.

I guess I'm in the minority ... I like the change. I remember how much I looked forward to DST when I was a kid...it meant summer was coming and that in addition to the days being longer, there was going to be extra hour of light at night, so we could play outside until pretty late. I still feel that way.

Then as the days start getting shorter, there's no chance for me to make use of the light at night anyway, and it's nice to have some in the morning.

On the other hand, we've only got two clocks in the house, and my watch updates itself automatically, so it's not that big a deal for us. I remember my dad doing the rounds through our house the night before, working his way from the upstairs to the basement.

It's certainly confusing to my young children, though, whose internal clocks are being asked to stretch a bit more than nature would require.

I'm guessing that this will be the last time it automatically updates, if it is calendar-based. Beginning in 2007, instead of beginning the first Sunday in April and ending the last Sunday in October, DST will begin the second Sunday in March and end the first Sunday in November. I have a feeling the electronics won't keep up!

I used to hear that Daylight savings time was like the little old lady who cut a foot off the end of her blanket and sewed it to the top to make it longer.

Seems a little anachronistic to me. Programmable devices can keep up with it, though...

I was on a cruise last week arriving back in home port Sunday morning. I guess I theoretically got a free extra hour of cruising! I spent it in the casino and actually netted $45 at the blackjack tables. So maybe I do like DST.
