    surgical rubber tubing

I need something for an experiment - some surgical rubber tubing was suggested for its elastic properties.
Where can you get some on a weekend/Saturday?
Are bungee cords of similar elasticity?

Your local hobby shop might carry glider upshot or hi-start kits. It's a big nail with a VERY long lengths of surgical tubing..

You've never had the chance to play with surgical tubing? You've been missing out. They make the best water balloon sling shots around.

No they aren't like bungee coords, bungee cords don't stretch as much. I can't say that I have ever really seen surgical tubing break from being strecthed unless it already had a tear in it.

If your really pressed and don't mind paying a bunch extra because of the location any medical supply place should carry it.

Also a disscussion on it versus bungie(for RC gliders at least):

I know I've seen it at my local True Value store, and I'm pretty sure the Ace store has it as well...you might check yours. They have a couple different diameters and it's on a bulk roll sold by the foot, so you can buy as much as you need.

I've seen it at Lowes, I doubt it is surgical quality if thats important to your experiment.

thanks guys, i guess it goes by
                  -natural Latex tubing,
                  -surgical tubing,
                  -rubber tubing
as well as surgical rubber tubing
                  and thanks for the hints,
ACE was out, Lowes had none and (third try's a charm) HD had some 3/8th x 10' and it certainly is not surgical grade, dusty and dirty...

If you haven't found something already for your water balloon launcher try the mcmaster carr catalog. they'll have it for sure.

I was on a two-houseboat trip to Lake Powell a few years ago. We set up water baloon launchers with surgical tubing and diapers. You had to maneuver the whole 60' boat for direction, then pull the diaper back accross the deck into the cabin for distance, and sit down for elevation control.

                              It was an absolute panic!
