I have been making a new set of dining chairs out of used oak, that I seem to have available. I was cutting 2 more back chair slats out of used oak hardwood flooring. I had been using the saw top for a work station, so I cleaned it off to make 2 more. I failed to put splitter or Shark Guard back on. As I was making the last cut felt something on my left ring fingernail. It cut a nice saw kerf right in the middle, didn't touch the skin. I am blessed to be okay after my stupidity. Bill

Glad you're okay,Bill... I'm still recovering from my mishap... though I did get "back on the horse" today... Using GRRippers to rabbet my pieces, instead of my thumb... (which, I swear, screamed... "NO, NO, NO!" when I started down to the shop!Comment

All of us have done some dumb things in the interest of expediance. Most of us keep our mouths shut about it!
Glad it wasn't worse, Bill.Don, aka Pappy,

Glad you are okay- I had the same thing happen in 1974 when I tried to flick a small cutoff away from a tablesaw blade. Worse thing, the darn saw was turned off and just coasting. Still remember the feeling!

Glad you weren't hurt..Nails grow back! Fingers Don't!
I'll bet it'll be a while before you stick your fingers that close to the Blade for a while!Stop thinking why you can't and Start thinking how you CAN!
Remember, SUCCESS comes in CANS!

Twenty one years ago (at age 14) while trimming the tops of my grandmothers hedges with my right hand, I grabbed the blades of an electric hedgecutter instead of the handle with my left hand. Needless to say, it wasn't pretty. Because of that, I have never ever even come close to making that mistake again as I am always conscious of when I go for the handle. Something I had always done non-chalantly(?) now gets the uttmost attention.
Bill, glad to hear no harm done, but I bet you won't make that mistake twice. Unfortunately, too many times, it takes a blunder to make us do it right the second time.
Be well,
