This is my last visit to this thread, but I hope that if a chunk of airplane falls off, and bounces across my lawn at the exact moment that I walk out of the door and removes my head, you all get together and blame my constant use of dangerous tools for my death. That's about the odds required for a death by sting ray attack. They have sting ray petting tanks in zoos.

Then everyone here who is perfect can talk about how stupid some mistake I made at some point was, and discuss adopting socialism because of it.

I like everyone that I've talked to on this forum, but here I disagree.

Well, this would obviously be your fault drummy. You tempted fate too many times by walking out of your front door. Planes are falling all the time. Not to mention you were standing too close to the trees, and you may never know when one of those may fall or be knocked over by a sudden gust of 175 mile per hour wind. Stupid fool. I hope you didn't have your kid in your arms when you did this. A car could have come up over your lawn and hit you. And there's always comets. j/k

I think that we actually ALL agree on things here to some extent. I don't think any of us thinks that holding a kid and feeding a croc at the same time is too bright. We agree that it was a mistake. I think we all also agree that we've all done stupid things and made mistakes before. This is just one we would have never made ourselves- our environments, perceptions, etc. - are different than Steve Irwin's. His judgement seems unfathomable to us given our own views- but if you understand his views, you can probably see how he made the mistake. He probably didn't stop and think, and he should have. People make mistakes.

On the other hand, there is a more symbolic lesson here that he taught. He loved what he did, didn't let fear stop him, and took risks that he needed to to fulfill his dream. More people should do this WITHIN their own perceptions/lives.
