    Long time ago

This is a finished project that was completed awhile ago >31 years to be close to the truth. I wanted to show that good joinery goes a long way to keeping a wood project useable for a long time. Through all kinds of (Minnesota) weather. And for many a mile >10,000. This was about my third wood project and I almost forgot how well it has served me. I'm not sure what the wood is but I think it's maple, through mortise and tenon joints throughout. The finish is many coats of linseed oil, slopped on and wiped off over the years. It's mounted on a 1975 Schwinn Superior which is still very much in use. Enjoy and thanks for looking.

That is a neat bike rack and it has stood the test of time well.

That's great. I love seeing first and second projects from years gone by. This has almost as many as I have but is in better shape! Nice job!

Cool project that has certainly passed the test of time!

Looks like it's held up well, but since you've gained more experience, shouldn't you build a wooden bike to mount it too?
