    Got an image question

I see the neat pics on everyone's posts and can't figure out how to get a pic I want included in my signature. Can anyone tell me how to do it? Also, how do you get a personal pic instead of the state flag a the top of the post?

Thanks tons in advance for the help.

Inserting pics into a signature works if you insert a link into your signature (User CP, Edit Signature) to the picture stored on another server.

In order to have a custom avatar (i.e. a picture of your choice), a paid subscription is required. Then User CP, Edit Avatar, Custom Avatar.

I think there's one more step...
when you insert a link to a picture you also have to include a pair of HTML tags that tell the software to insert the picyture there.
The opening HTML tag would be <img>
and the closing tag would be </img>
and you have to use the square brackets not <>. I used <> because
the software would try to interpret the ones with square brackets if I typed them hoping to display them.
so you would put in your signature

        my witty text saying
        <img>http://link_to_clever_pic.jpg</img>

of course replacing the < and > with [ and ]
and link_to_clever_pic with a real URL for a jpeg file.
