    Didn't want to come home

We got back a couple hrs ago from our vacation in Minnesota. The in-laws have a lakeside cabin in the lakes area around Brainerd. Weather was as good as it could be - hot but breezy and not too hot - if you sat in the shade drinking beer you were comfortable.

Spent a week swimmin 'n fishin. Got a couple rock and largemouth bass. No northerns this year though. Also got in some water skiing, beer drinkin' and a project. I helped my FIL rebuild the steps down to his dock and designed a removeable small deck area for him - he will work on it later this summer. The We've already decided next year I will do some wiring in the garage and add a floodlight for him. I told him if he could wait one more year he wouldn't have to pay an electrician.

We went up to Itasca State Park and saw the headwaters of the Mississippi. It is a beautiful place. I jumped across the stream just so I could say I stepped over the river.

Amazing. I just came back from an almost identical vacation with the family myself.

          -inlaws house
          -lakeside cabin
          -swimmin
          -fishin
          -BEER!
-project (mine was helping on a stone walkway)

We were at Pelican lake which is about an hour east of Brainerd.

Actually was there the first year I went up to that area. There was supposed to be a windsurfing place out there. Never found it.

You don't have to worry.... I've also been up there in the winter.

Winter is a whole different subject up here in the Northland!!! Not many places will have temperature swings by as much as 130 degrees between the seasons. It can get to 100 degrees in the summer and 30 below or more in the winter. What a state!!! And yet most of us want to stay here.
