    The NEED for New Technology

Perhaps I'm overly in need of some humor, but the Sears' Ad I just received in the mail gave me a laugh.

The advertisement for their new tool storage cabinet exclaims "NEW TECHNOLOGY" with drawers that are "30% SMOOTHER AND 40% QUIETER".

Hmmm , so does that mean that the old drawer was so noisey that I couldn't hear the sound of my engine when I went to retrieve a wrench or what?

The "40% Quieter" cracked me up. I guess I didn't realize that a noisey tool drawer in the shop was a major concern that required all the R&D that went into this NEW Technology!

But the thought did cross my mind that perhaps we really need these "40% QUIETER" drawers so our wives don't catch us trying to sneakingly, fix anything around the house!

funny thing about marketing. The worse the product the bigger the claims for features have to be.

I dunno. I tried a Porter Cable variable tooth blade in my BT3K that purported to be quieter than regular blades. It is quieter. The first time I had it in there I thought something was wrong with the saw.

I love the new drawers at Sears. They make the perfectly fine old toolboxes go down in price and move into my garage.

after reading the HOA thread awhile back, I think this is "HOA induced marketing" .... this type of marketing is geared toward the people that need to have the ULTIMATE in stealth technology for their hobbies in an effort to thwart the evil empire of the HOA.

A 40% quieter closing drawer on a toolbox is a 40% reduction in the chance that the evil empire might actually sense that the rebellion is still strong and able to adapt to the increasing need of the HOA empire to put a stop to any hobby that might actually require a brain.

I salute Sears for looking out for the rebellion .... and to the rebellion, I can only offer ... "may the force be with you"

stay tuned for next months episode featuring "$20 off jigsaw mufflers"
If it ain't broke.. don't fix it!!!... but you can always 'hop it up'

40% quieter drawer, then our tested drawer with tools rolling around in them. 30% smoother then the one with the jammed drawer.

How about 80% redder (insert color of choice), then our color matched primered one.

That "40% quieter drawer" is only going to appeal to those consumers who are 40% dumber...
