I'm going to be holding a good thought for you, Scott. In our house, the cats are our only children and I know the pain of losing one of them. Try to take comfort in the knowledge that at the same time FatKat was enriching your life, you were doing the same for her. There are few things we can do in our lives that are more noble than giving an animal a loving home.

Sorry to hear about that. We have 3 cats and 1 dog and are extremely attached to all of them.Jeff

I am sorry for your loss Mudder. I know what you are feeling. We lost our first dog about 4 years ago now and it is still hard. But I know that you will be fine and who knows maybe one day another cat will come along that you will see and fall in love with again. It took us about 3 years to get another dog.
Our prayers are with you.Mrs. Wallnut a.k.a (the head nut).Comment

Scott,
I'm so sorry to hear about Fatcat. As others have said you don't know how it is until you have lost a pet.
When one of our standard poodles died suddenly 15 years ago, LOML asked to postpone a court hearing she was trying. Her opposing counsel said, "It's just a dog!" Luckily, the Judge had dogs. At the postponed hearing, LOML whupped the other lawyer soundly, for our dog Toby.

Had to fill the void
I took FatKat's loss rather hard and momma went out and got a beautiful gray cat on Thursady night. While she was there another special needs cat caught her attention and she brought me there today to see it.
Long story short......................The Mudder household has 3 yep Three new additions.
First up is Grayson. A 1 1/2 year old beautiful gray cat.
(He's a little gun shy so pics will follow)
Next up is Jax. A beautiful black and white cat that liiks quite similar to my beloved FatKat. Jax is 8 years old and his owner went into a nursing home and could not keep him. He is also getting used to us and is hiding under the bed with Grayson.
Last but not least is Oscar. A beautiful orange tiger cat that was dumped on Valentines day because he has food allergies and the food he requires is a little pricey. This fellow is so full of love.
Momma took an old stocking and put catnip in it and Oscar was like a little kitten.
Although I'm still broken hearted over FatKat, I'm sure the love given by these three little bundles of joy will help me make it through the hard times
Thanks for all the kind replies.Last edited by mudder; 06-02-2006, 03:23 PM.Comment

Mighty nice of you folks, taking in those cute, needy kids. They're not replacing FatKat - nobody can. They are there to make new places in your hearts that wouldn't be there without them.
God bless,

Scott,
Had to post another time -
Dammit, you guys are makin' me get all misty again -
Y'all may not remember, but it was a year ago yesterday that we lost our own "Fat Cat" - his name was Nicky. (A more morose bundle of tears and remembrances than me you probably never saw). Through the infinite wisdom and guidance of a dear friend at our vet's establishment, LOML and I were adopted the next day (today's the anniversary) by one "Seamus O'Grady Tinky Gimme Mr. Longtail McCray" (all good cats need, nay, require multiple names).
Seamus has grown into Nicky's shoes (paws?) quite admirably. Though not nearly as fat (though quite a sizeable feline), he makes up for it in heart and personality (witness the late-night-butt-cheek-attention-grab that he has perfected).
This rambling reply is ultimately meant to say nothing more than:
Though your new additions will never ever replace Fat Kat, they will ease your pain, as you will enrich their lives.
Mudder, ya done good!
Pet 'em all for both of us...
Scott
