Lee Styron = One Class Act

Since publicly embarrassing our buddy Lee Styron is a competitive sport around here, I thought I'd join in the fun:

A week ago today, I emailed Lee and told him I wanted to order a Shark Splitter for my BT. I inquired whether custom colors were available, and at what additional cost. Lee and I batted a few emails back and forth, mainly to settle on the color, which I described as some shade of bright yellow ... I used the current Ford Mustang color as one example, and the yellow LIVESTRONG bracelets from the Lance Armstrong Foundation as another. I had sent Lee one of these bracelets after he made a contribution to the LAF on my behalf, last fall. But I told him the exact shade didn't matter, as long as the color wasn't too dark, like a school bus.

My Shark Splitter arrived yesterday, only six days after I expressed my interest and five after I actually placed the order.

At the time I placed that order, Lee told me there'd be no extra charge for the custom color.

When it arrived, the thing was packaged like ... well, let's just say that I wore out two X-Acto blades before I finally coaxed the thing out into the daylight.

But the coolest thing of all?

I was surprised and delighted to see that Lee had stamped the words LIVE STRONG into the splitter, just above the mounting slots.

Thank you, Lee. Your thoughtfulness really made this cancer survivor's day, and then some!

    Great story!

I also have made a few purchases from Lee, and could not have been happier.

This is not surprising - just another example of Lee's attention to detail and compassion. Good on ya Lee!

That does not suprise me about Lee whatsoever. I have had similar experiences with him that make those extra efforts the norm. Way to go Lee!

I would love to see pics Larry!

Lee is definitely one of the good guys. I purchased a Shark Guard from him several years ago and he's got to be one of the most easy-to-work-with individuals I've ever met.

Gawrsh dog, you guys are too much.
It's not that I make much extra effort. Y'all are just easy to please.

I thought you might like that, Larry.

Oh Yeah??! Well, where's the Shark Guard and/or riving knife for my Ridgid? Huh, Lee, huh?

Seriously, that was a meaningful gesture on your part, Lee. Guess I have to admit you're o.k. ;-D

                    Pics? You want pics?

Sure ... but naturally, today's the one day (no kidding!) that I left my digicam at home. Monday, fershure.

Bill, I'd love to get to see you again. I'm no longer tied down to working at the beach. I am looking for an apprentice as well.

Ken, I am actually working up something in the way of a Shark Guard for the Ridgid 3650. It will still take some time so stay tuned.

Don't vote me in as President. I have some real work to do.
