Starware

Yesterday morning I sit down at computer and message said "Need to restart computer to complete installation of Starware".

I didn't instead I did a little research and spent several hours trying to get rid of it. I finally did, but got rid of my antivirus at the same time.

From what I have read, I think this sucker can take over, it had written iself in the registry 12 times.

It sounds like it's not a virus or a trojan, just adware.

Since we are on the subject, does anyone know how to get rid of Surf Sidekick adware???

try Adaware, Spybot, or Microsoft Antispyware.

I usually run both Adaware and Spybot.

Would those work for some mirar toolbar on my computer? It just randomly appeared, and doesn't show up in add/remove programs or with a spyware/anti-virus scan on my computer (sbc online protection)

That is the way Starware started. It appeared as a toolbar, right below my Yahoo toolbar. I also have SBC Online, but it hadn't been updated. Good Luck, Bill
