For me suddenly discovering you LACK toilet paper is a pretty big pet peeve.

Reminds me of my Dad's story about when he was a kid in the country and used poison ivy leaves as TP--only made that mistake once...

        For me, over the top.
Here's an interesting couple of surveys from toiletpaperworld.com

        >> Do most people hang the toilet paper roll with the sheet over or under? <<

68% like to hang toilet paper with the first sheet going over the roll, while 25% prefer to hang the first sheet under the roll.

Are most people "wadders" or "folders" of toilet paper? (Based on a surveyed crowd of 1,012) <<

When it comes to toilet paper, women are more apt to be grabbers and wadders, while men tend to be folders. This is according to a Kimberly Clark survey. July 5, 2000.
*40% fold or stack, 40% wad or crumple, 20% wrap it around their hand.
        *52% (Men) & 38% (Women) are "folders", 38% (Men) & 52% (Women) are "wadders", 6% (Men) & 6% (Women) have no preference, and 4% (Men) & 3% (Women) don't know.

        WHAT HAVE I STARTED??!!
I'm not sure I'd want to shake the hand of those who stated "don't know"

Toilet Paper? They still make that stuff? Just do what I do and drag your a$$ on the carpet.

Saw my friends dog do that and got totally disgusted, thus no dogs or carpet for me. Another vote for over the top.

In our house we ration the stuff. Any more than one sheet at a time and your wasting it. To help enforce this each new roll gets sliced in two. I don't have a bandsaw, so I cut them in half on my BT3. Then we sit them on top of the cistern and you are only allowed to tak ONE piece at a time.
We all try to time it so we don't need to go when the (half) roll is nearly gone and the peices are way small.

I also like it folded into a nice neat point like in hotels.

You are all wrong!!! The roll goes on the window seal and you get it down, put it on 2 fingers and unwrap the needed quantity with your other hand.
Awww forget trying to fix it!!!! Lets just drink beer

I worry about people who become OCD about which way the toilet paper should hang. So to prevent myself from becoming OCD too, I make sure I alternate.

Every other roll goes over the top, with the in-between rolls going underneath. To make sure I don't accidentally go two-in-a-row the same way and risk crossing the line into OCD land, I keep a chart on the wall in the bathroom. It has two columns: "over" and "under". When I replace a roll, I make sure to put a tick mark in the correct column. Then, when it's time to replace the next, I reconcile the tick marks in each column to make sure they are the same number so I can put the new roll on the correct way. I had a family meeting and instructed everyone on the new toilet paper changing procedure so that if the roll runs out when I'm not around, they don't accidentally put it on in an out of sequence orientation.

By religiously following this procedure, I can make sure I never get OCD about making sure the the roll is always mounted over or under.

Isn't it ironic to get anal about toilet paper?
