    unique pet peeve

The other day at work we were discussing our pet peeves and mine got the biggest laugh so I though I would share.

Toilet paper roll - over or under?
It drives me nuts when it is put in so the paper feeds from the top of the roll. I find myself often switching it. Is that a sign of OCD or am I just nuts?

Of course you're nuts. Everybody knows it's supposed to feed from the top!
I really am going to make something one of these days.

Yeah! (Not that I'm OCD enough to change it... Well most of the time, anyway...)

Don't know the OCD, but LOML brought home a pack of those Extra big rolls that come with there own offset bar. Had to show her how if you put the roll going over the top, it would cause friction on the bottom and break the paper before you were ready. If you did it under the bottom, it would lift as you pull and all was well.

Sound like I could write a doctoral thesis on this

Funny thing - I like it over the top, but LOML got those extra big rolls too. I discovered the same thing Russianwolf did and also had to show LOML.

I'm with you on this...so if you're OCD then so am I. Applies to paper towel rolls as well.

Mine was always from the bottom, then I got married and ever since it has been from the top. Now all I care about is that there is paper on the roll.

Knowing his habits, I'd suspect he uses some sort of complex jig to separate each new roll into individual sheets, and stacks them neatly in a box next to the toilet...

Having traveled to Europe a few times, in some hotels that is basically what they have had. A dispenser with a stack of sheets rather than a roll. I've definately been in hotels in France like that several times.

I never asked about your sex life...LOL

But seriously folks, I have discovered that the manufacturers roll the paper so that the little "pillows" are rolled to the inside. So when the paper is off the top, you have to turn it over to get them to the outside of the wrap.
Now, are the pillows there for better cleaning action, or is there something I don't know?

                          ROTFL...

This is getting too weird but I can't stop laughing at what I've started.

The one time you definitely DON'T want over the top is if you have a cat. Amazing how fast one of those little buggers can unroll TP!

there's web sites devoted to this discussion. I'm sure you can google it.
                              For me, over the top.
