coming in for my first cup of coffee :)

    Hi folks,

Just swingin' in for a swig of java and shoot the ... I've been woodworking for 15 years or so I guess, making whatever is required for the honey-do-list. Retired a couple years ago from the rat race and am in the closing stages of building our new home, gotta lay down hardwood this coming week. Spent the last day or so laying cork flooring. I've owned a bt3k since '99 (or around that time) and its been a loyal servent in the workshop. I stop in regularly, hopefully I can offer and get some advice when needed.

            Hi Jim

Not sure if I ever told you but you are the one who made me get into BT back in 99. You gave me your own experience and also send me to the old Ryobi site!

            Welcome aboard!

So building a house. I have always dreamed about doing that. I can't imagine the number of tools I could tell my wife that I needed and she wouldn't know any better. I'd be in heaven for sure. Anyway, enjoy and do stop by for that cup now and again.
May you die and go to heaven before the Devil knows you're dead. My Best, Mac

All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dream with open eyes, to make it possible

I've built 2 houses and have a lifetime contract to finish remodeling the old one we bought in 95. I love to work on hardwood floors, so A big Welcome to the best place to hang and enjoy your coffee. Bill

Thanks for the warm welcome guys! Turaj, I do recall speaking with you. :-)
I have to be clear that I'm not the one building the house, I hired a general contractor (one of the largest and supposedly most reputable builders in the province). We've been quite disappointed with their lack of communication and coordiantion of trades to the site. Its a long story, I won't bore you with it.

Attached are a couple pics of the cork floor. Really easy to install, it has a cork underside, some kid of green fiberous material as the core (water resisitant) and two layers of cork on top, topped with 3 coats of polyurethane. All it needs now is a good coat of wax.

Next two weeks will be busy, getting ready to take ownership of the house and then arranging my new 20x30ft workshop. Its tight for space now since all of our belongings are packed in their with a full compliment of tools including my bt3k.
