    Whew! Glad that's over

Back just before Christmas LOML got a letter from the state it they had no record of her filing her taxes for 2000 and after tax, penalties, interest, etc she owed just south of 6K. We thought no problem and went to find her return. Couldn't find it after a week of looking. Figured out her dad thought he was helping and it got tossed by mistake with some other stuff when we moved a year ago. 2000 was also one of the few years she didn't use an accountant. I said Ok, still no problem, called the feds, they said normal 6 week wait for records but it being tax time is now 10.

At that point I called our accountant who did whatever he did and got the records in 4 weeks. He called this morning to say she did file with the state, so no problems there. He also filed an amended return for 2000 that got enough back to cover his his fee with enough for me to take LOML to dinner. I told him mucho gracias, keep the change and for him to take his wife to dinner.

Great news, glad it worked out so well.

But now I guess I will quit grumbling about that "wasted storage space" used for keeping our financial records of years gone by.

Sure makes me glad I live in Florida (that and the fact that it's 82F today) 'cause we have no state tax. We prefer to let the tourists pay it!!!
